Frequently Asked Questions

The FAQs section is designed to provide you with quick and clear answers to common questions about Radnor Oak's oak framed buildings and related services.

Do I need planning permission for an oak gazebo?

Most oak gazebos fall within Permitted Development if kept under 4 metres in height, but this does depend on location and boundary rules. We’re always happy to guide you through the basics before you speak to your local authority.

How easy is a Radnor Oak gazebo to assemble?

Each oak framed gazebo kit is supplied pre-jointed with traditional mortice and tenon joints, so installation is straightforward for a competent builder or carpenter. Clear plans and fixings are included.

What size oak gazebo should I choose?

Our Small, Medium and Large designs suit everything from hot tub shelters to outdoor kitchens and dining areas. The right size depends on how you plan to use the space - speak with our team to discover the perfect fit for your space.

How long will an oak gazebo last?

Premium green oak is naturally durable, weather-resistant and built to last for decades with no maintenance required. Over time the oak gently silvers, giving the structure a natural countryside look.

Can the layout of the gazebo be adjusted?

Yes - while the overall frame is a standard design, you can add or remove balustrades, choose your roof covering, and position your garden shelter to suit outdoor kitchens, seating areas or hot tubs. If your vision is something more bespoke, our team would be glad to discuss your ideas.

Are oak gazebos suitable for year-round use in the UK climate?

Absolutely - our oak framed gazebos are built for year-round British weather, with chunky oak posts, sturdy knee braces and a hipped roof providing excellent stability and protection from the elements. Add panels or half-panels to shelter from driving wind, and infra red heaters are a firm favourite amongst customers to keep cosy in those chillier evenings.
